Depthray terms of use
Last updated 5 October 2026. These terms cover the Depthray app for Meta Quest and PICO headsets, published by Woodford XR, the trading name of Sean Gilleece, a sole trader. By installing or using Depthray you agree to them. The store you got it from has its own terms for the download and the purchase, and those apply as well.
What you get
Depthray is licensed to you, not sold. You may install and use it on the headsets your store account allows, for your own personal use, to play video you have the right to play. The free version plays five minutes of video a day; one in app purchase through your store unlocks it for good on that account. The purchase is handled by the store, and the store's own refund policy applies to it.
Your content
Depthray plays files from your headset, your network shares and your media servers, and it supplies no content of its own. You are responsible for having the right to play what you play. YouTube inside Depthray is YouTube's own app for TVs, shown in the headset's system web view, and your use of it is under Google's terms.
What you may not do
Depthray contains libraries that belong to Meta Platforms and to Pico Immersive Pte. Ltd (the platform SDK of the store the app was built for), used for the entitlement check and the purchase. Their licences require these terms, so to the extent the law allows you agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble Depthray or any library inside it, or work around any technical limitation in them;
- copy, redistribute, rent, lend, sell or publish Depthray or any part of it, or extract a library from it for use anywhere else;
- run Depthray on hardware it is not licensed for, or use it in a way that breaks the store's terms or the law.
The one exception is the FFmpeg audio decoder library, libffmpegJNI.so, which is under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1 or later: its complete source is published at the address shown in the app's About page, and you may replace it with a compatible build of the same library, as that licence allows. Nothing in these terms takes away what the LGPL grants for that library, or what your own law grants regardless of a contract.
Third party components
Depthray is built on open source components. Each is listed in the app under Settings, About, with its licence, and the full texts are under Licence texts there. Those licences govern those components.
Privacy
Depthray has no account of its own, no analytics and no advertising, and uses your Meta user ID on Meta Quest and your purchase record with the store only to check that you own the app. Hand and eye tracking, where you turn them on, are used only to aim the pointer: nothing of them is stored, logged or sent anywhere. The privacy policy says exactly what the app keeps on the headset and when it connects to anything.
Updates and changes
Depthray may be updated through the store, and a version may add, change or remove a feature. If these terms change, the new version is published at this address with a new date, and the app's About page links here.
No warranty and liability
Depthray is provided as it is. Woodford XR does not promise that it will suit every file, server or headset, or that it will be free of faults, and to the extent the law allows Woodford XR is not liable for any loss arising from its use beyond what you paid for it. Nothing here limits any liability that the law does not allow to be limited, and nothing here takes away the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
Ending
You may stop using Depthray at any time by uninstalling it. If you break these terms, your licence to use Depthray ends. The store may also withdraw the app or your access to it under its own terms.
